So you're at the point of wondering who I am... I am passionate about working with my clients as a partner to assist them in gaining all the tools they need to be their own success. In looking into their values and goals together we build the supportive structures to assist them in bringing out their greatness. Most of my clients are business owners or professionals who are working on their competitive edge and moving toward playing a bigger game.
I am an adventurous person by nature who doesn't shy away from many challenges. An example of this is overcoming my fear of swimming to become an open-water certified scuba diver. After listening to stories of all the interesting things there are to see in the water, I decided to give it a try. As I learned the theories through books, videos and classroom instruction, my confidence rose. Then came the moment of truth in the pool. I must say the concept of flooding a perfectly clear mask underwater and then clearing it before coming up to the surface was not what I had in mind when I initially signed up. Quickly I discovered how naturally I breathed through my nose and not through my mouth in the water. It was not pretty! One of the instructors ended up coaching me through the process of my breathing style change. Had it not been for the individualized instruction and support, I would have washed out. My sinuses were good and clean by the end of the weekend of pool instruction and I had managed to change a breathing method I had had all my life.
Then came the true test ... putting it all together in the open water of Puget Sound (Seattle area) where the average water temperature is mid 40's. This was the make it or break it part. It is where I had to step up to a higher game or go home. My coach was there through the process and on the second attempt to clear my mask in the cold salt water I did it! During that first year as a scuba diver I logged close to 80 dives, and continue to enjoy it immensely. Bringing it to present day, I am inching my way closer to the 200 dive mark, am learning underwater photography and am now an advanced certified scuba diver.
We each have challenges we face in life, whether starting up a new business, navigating through a professional mine field, expanding your existing client base, rediscovering yourself after the break up of a relationship, business redirection shifts, taking your business to the next level or inspiring an uninspired employee. My background includes over 15 years in sales & marketing covering various territories throughout the US, several years of consulting, six years as a Director of a non-profit Board, and four of those six years as the Chairperson for the Board. I have extensive relationship building experience in networking and referral expansion.
I have seen and experienced many different leadership styles and the one I know to consistently work long-term is that of the servant leader. It takes being clear on your values and the intention of living them to become a successful person and powerful professional.
My clients enjoy my calming style when water is tumultuous. They also appreciate the way I can provoke new thoughts from their blind spots as we go below the surface challenges they encounter.
